Let’s Make 2021 A Great Year for the CCHAT Center
As it was for so many, 2020 was a year like no other for the CCHAT Center. We faced many obstacles due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but thanks to the amazing CCHAT community, our team persevered and withstood all of the challenges presented during the year.
We are prepared to make 2021 a terrific year, but before we move forward, we wanted to highlight some of our accomplishments over the past year, made possible by the incredible support of our families, staff and community.
Our 2020 Achievements
The ongoing pandemic forced us to pivot many fundraising events to a virtual platform. Rather than bemoan the missed opportunities to come together in person, CCHAT instead focused on the possibilities afforded to us by going virtual.
Moving our events online allowed a new demographic of people to take part, and we enjoyed reaching out to a new audience. CCHAT’s community of sponsors and donors were always gracious in remaining involved despite the changes, allowing us to enjoy our most successful year to date for fundraisers.
Big Day of Giving 2020
For the 6th time, CCHAT participated in the Big Day of Giving, a 24-hour online giving event for nonprofit organizations in the region. Taking place in the height of the COVID-19 crisis, we entered the day hopeful, but unsure of what to expect.
The CCHAT community of support was felt in a big way, as we raised $44,135 from 232 online donations. Online giving to CCHAT was up 35% from 2019, while we nearly doubled our peer-to-peer fundraising pages created.
CCHAT Uncorked 2020
Our major in-person fundraising gala, CCHAT Uncorked, moved online and was incredibly well received by our families and supporters. Participants enjoyed a real-time broadcast which included a live and silent auction, as well as presentations and videos from CCHAT staff and families.
Thanks to the support of our sponsors and the incredible participation of our CCHAT community, Uncorked raised a record $90,475!
Bike 4 Fun 2020
Holding Bike 4 Fun virtually seemed like a daunting task, but our community once again made sure the event was unique, fun and successful. While our students rode their bikes through their home neighborhoods, a group of “CCHAT Roadies,” supporters and alumni from across the country, signed up to pedal right along with them.
This week-long biking celebration not only created a bonding experience between our kids and community supporters, but it also raised more than $35,000 for the CCHAT Center.
7th Annual Holly Jolly Holiday Celebration
One 2020 event remains, and you are just in time to join in on the fun! Our annual Holly Jolly Holiday Celebration is currently in full swing, and the event will culminate on December 17th with an online broadcast featuring our students performing songs of the holiday season.
You can purchase at-home packages of CCHAT wine and charcuterie to enjoy while watching the show. Sign up for the silent auction and secure CCHAT student-made ornaments, donate to the Giving Tree, snag a bottle from the Wine Wall or bid on a plethora of outstanding auction packages.
You can find out more about our Holly Jolly event over here!
How You Can Support the CCHAT Center’s Mission in 2021
CCHAT’s goal of helping children with hearing loss develop the listening and spoken language skills to enjoy a lifetime of social, educational and vocational success continues into 2021.
We have a number of events planned for the upcoming year, but in the meantime, we are always incredibly grateful for your donations. Every dollar raised helps us improve our services for children who are deaf and hard of hearing.
The cost of providing our specialized education program is not fully absorbed by school districts that place children at CCHAT. We are challenged to raise $10,000 through community support for each child we serve.
Your donation to the CCHAT Center is 100% tax deductible and helps support:
- Speech and language services
- Deaf and hard of hearing services
- Audiology and hearing services
- Parent education and local outreach
If you are able to pledge a monthly donation, your contribution can support the following over the course of a year:
- A gift of $10 per month provides an audiology evaluation for a child who is deaf or hard of hearing.
- A gift of $25 per month provides an infant diagnostic evaluation (early diagnosis of hearing loss is very important)
- A gift of $50 per month provides mainstream support to at least two of our alumni students who are actively participating in their neighborhood school settings.
- A gift of $100 per month provides (12) individualized speech therapy sessions
If you have any questions about contributing, donating or volunteering, please give us a call at (916) 361-7290 x2 and speak to our Development Department.
We thank all of you for your unwavering support during a trying year, and we look forward to connecting further in 2021.
