Local Podcast Gives CCHAT a Platform for Community Outreach
Spreading the word about CCHAT and the comprehensive hearing health services we provide to the community is always a priority. That’s why we were overjoyed to be highlighted on a local podcast in June.
Jeff Holden, the creator and host of “The Non Profit Podcast Network,” welcomed CCHAT Development Director Licia Green for an episode, allowing Licia to share not only CCHAT’s mission and vision for children with hearing loss, but also her own personal story as the mother of CCHAT alumni twins.
“I want our community to know that we are a resource,” Licia said on the podcast. “As we've expanded the services that we provide, not only are we center-based with children learning to listen and talk, but now we're out in the community serving families (by providing newborn hearing screenings).”
The 49-minute episode, titled From Silence to a Sound Solution for Children With Hearing Loss: How CCHAT Prepares Them for Life, touches on the transformative educational strategies utilized by CCHAT to enrich the lives of children with hearing loss. This includes the power of individualized speech therapy, the joy of daily music experiences and the pivotal role of parental involvement.
The podcast also gave Licia a platform to share her powerful personal story.
“My identical twin girls were born, and then on December 9th, our life was changed forever when we learned that they did not pass the newborn hearing screening,” Licia said on the podcast. “It was just through sheer luck that one of our dear friends knew about the CCHAT Center, because we literally lived seven miles from the organization and never knew that they existed.”
While Licia relied on a personal connection for her introduction to CCHAT, Holden hopes his podcast will be a lifeline for others in need of nonprofit services, whether that is CCHAT or one of the many others he has highlighted on his show.
“Growing reach for awareness with the speed of digital, this is just one more opportunity to get their story told to more people faster,” Holden says on his website.
As part of the process, Holden visited CCHAT, toured the campus and witnessed first-hand the power of the program.
“(CCHAT) is one of the organizations that when you walk in, it's palpable the interest and the passion that the people have for the cause and the purpose that they're working with these children on,” Holden said on the podcast.
